Whistle Post Estate
Cellar Door

A Modern Wine Tasting Experience

Open daily 11am–6pm
15712 Riddoch Highway, Coonawarra
0408 708 093

Tucked among the vines on the iconic Riddoch Highway, Whistle Post Estate is one of Coonawarra's most distinctive cellar door experiences.
Whistle Post is an intimate, family-run estate where the wine you taste was grown on the same soil you're standing on.

A tasting at Whistle Post is a journey across the estate.
All wines are made entirely from fruit grown across Whistle Post's two vineyard sites - over 80 hectares of the famed Coonawarra Terra Rossa soil. You're not just tasting wines, you are tasting a specific place, grown and made by the people who will be pouring for you.
Guests are welcomed into a modern tasting room with a large share table and sweeping vineyard views.
The relaxed and unhurried atmosphere makes it easy to stay, ask questions, and get to know the wines 'From Grower to Glass

What's on tasting:

Cabernet Sauvignon
Chardonnay
Merlot
Rosé
Cabernet Franc
Estate Field Blend (a Bordeaux-style small-batch release)

Tastings are complimentary. Wines are also available by the glass and bottle to enjoy on-site or take home.

Barrel Hall & Event Space

The newest addition to Whistle Post Estate is the Barrel Hall & Event space. This is positioned next to the Cellar Door and is perfect for weddings, private tastings and events. Featuring a large hall lined with wine barrels, and an upcoming boardroom and outdoor balcony development with views across the vineyard.

Why Visit Whistle Post

What makes us different from other Coonawarra cellar doors:

Estate-grown only - every wine comes from our vines, you can see from the tasting table.
Grower to Glass -  the Smibert family grows the grapes and makes the wines.
Award-winning wines - the current release Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon received 95 points from James Halliday, one of Australia's most respected wine critics.
Intimate scale - small enough to feel personal
The Barrel Hall - a private event and tasting space unlike anything else in the region.
Walkable from Penola - most Coonawarra accommodation is in Penola, just minutes away.
